What is a “proof” coin?
A proof coin refers to the process used to mint the coin. This process uses specific dyes and polishing tools to create a high-quality, mirrored surface. Proof coins today are mainly produced for collectors. They are one of the most popular collectibles for gifts, commemorations, or other special events. Proof coins tend to have a higher premium than uncirculated coins due to the process which strikes the coin twice and creates a shiny, intricate design.
