DETAILS

Introducing the 90% Silver Walking Liberty Half Dollars, now available on GoldClub Direct! These beautiful coins were minted between 1916 and 1947 and are a must-have for any coin collector or history buff.

Designed by Adolph A. Weinman, the Walking Liberty Half Dollar boasts an intricate and stunning design. On the obverse, Lady Liberty is depicted walking confidently towards the rising sun, draped in the American flag and carrying branches of oak and laurel in her arms. The reverse features a majestic eagle perched on a rock, wings spread wide in flight.

Before the Walking Liberty Half Dollar design, the Barber Half Dollar was in circulation, which had a more simplistic design of Lady Liberty wearing a cap. After the Walking Liberty Half Dollar, the Franklin Half Dollar was minted, featuring founding father Benjamin Franklin on the obverse.

The Walking Liberty design on the half dollar was so popular and well-received that it was later used on the American Silver Eagle bullion coin, which was first minted in 1986. The American Silver Eagle features the same design of Lady Liberty walking towards the sunrise, although the eagle on the reverse uses a different design. This makes the Walking Liberty design one of the few designs in U.S. coinage history to be used on multiple coins.
