GoldClub Direct is thrilled to offer the new release of the 2023 1 oz South African Krugerrand silver coin!

The South African Krugerrand is a well-known and widely collected bullion coin series. It was first introduced in 1967, and was the first modern bullion coin series to be available on the market. Initially, the Krugerrand was only available in gold coins, but due to its popularity and widespread demand, it quickly became the most-owned bullion coin in the world. This success prompted other countries to follow suit, and many began to release their own bullion coins.

However, it wasn’t until the 50th anniversary of the Krugerrand in 2017 that the South African Mint decided to create a silver version of the coin. This new release garnered significant national attention and was met with enthusiasm from coin collectors and investors alike. As a result, the South African Mint decided to make the silver Krugerrand an annual release.

Each 1 oz South African Krugerrand silver coin contains 1 Troy oz of .999 silver, and will arrive in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins can be purchased individually, packaged in plastic flips, or in tubes of 25 or monster boxes of 500 coins. The Silver Krugerrand has a face value of 1 rand and is issued by the South African government.

The obverse field of the coin features a portrait of Paul Kruger, a prominent president of the South African Republic. He is depicted in left-profile relief, and the inscriptions “South Africa” in both English and Afrikaans surround the effigy. The reverse field of the coin features a prancing springbok antelope, which is the national animal of South Africa and has been featured on many of the country’s coins. Additionally, identifying characteristics of the coin, such as the weight and fineness, are also included on the reverse face.

The Krugerrand coin is not only a valuable investment but also a historical and cultural symbol of South Africa, the coin has stood the test of time, been a reference point for the precious metal’s value, and has a unique design that makes it one of the most recognizable coins in the world.
