2023 1 oz Gold Australian Kangaroo

The 2023 1 oz Australian Gold Kangaroo Coins are now available to order at GoldClub Direct! Minted through 2024, the Perth Mint has set mintage numbers for the fractional coins, while the 1 oz and 1 Kilo gold coins remain uncapped.

Once recognized as the Australian Nugget, the Australian Gold Kangaroo was created in 1986. Formally updated in 1990, the red kangaroo immediately became identifiable with the island down under.  While the 1 Kilo coin design remains unchanged, utilizing the original design of a kangaroo surrounded by sun rays created by Stuart Devlin, the mint changes the image of the kangaroo of the 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz coins. Annually, the 1 oz and fractional-ounce gold coins typically receive an updated design. . 

The reverse design of the 2023 Australian Gold Kangaroos is features a new, Ing Ing Jong design.  Depicting an adult kangaroo looking over its right shoulder at the outback, the background is decorated with with eucalyptus and grass trees.  Additional features include the word “KANGAROO”, mint mark “P” for the Perth Mint, as well as the date, weight, and purity of the coin.

While the Queen has passed in 2022, the 2023 Australian Kangaroos obverse design will serve as memorial, featuring the Jody Clark effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the dates of her reign – 1952-2022. The Queen is shown in right-profile relief, adorned with the George IV State Diadem Crown.

These 2023 1 oz Australian Gold Kangaroo Coins will arrive in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Perth Mint offers individual coins packaged in protective capsules or mint-sealed boxes of 100 coins.
