In 2021, the Royal Mint announced a new series of coins based on British folklore. The Myths and Legends coin series grabs legendary figures from Britain’s past and brings them to the face of bullion coins. Previous versions have featured Little John, Maid Marian, and Robinhood.
Now, GoldClub Direct is proud to offer the newest coin in the series, the 2023 1 oz British Gold King Arthur Myths and Legends Coin.
King Arthur is one of the most popular mythical figures in British history. He is said to have ruled Celtic Britain during the late 5th and early 6th century from his famous court at Camelot and the Round Table. King Arthur was known for uniting his people against the Saxon invaders and being the noble leader of the Knights of the Round Table.
The 2023 King Arthur Gold Coin will arrive to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Each 1 oz bullion coin contains 1 oz of pure gold with a purity of .9999 and will be shipped in individual plastic flips, acrylic tubes of 10, or monster boxes of 100 coins.
The obverse face features Queen Elizabeth II in her final effigy designed by Jody Clark in 2015. The Queen can be seen in right-profile relief, wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown.
The reverse depicts an artistic representation of King Arthur wielding Excalibur, designed by David Lawrence. King Arthur is seen wearing regal attire while atop a horse. The legendary Camelot castle can be seen in the background. Inscribed on the rim of the reverse are the specifications of the coin.
