Description
The Queen’s Virtues series pays homage to the virtues of Queen Victoria and how Queen Elizabeth II continued to carry those values during her reign as Queen. The Queen’s Virtues were first depicted on the Victoria Memorial Monument. The design featured statues of the six virtues of Victory, Courage, Constancy, Justice, Truth, and Charity. Sir Thomas Brock designed the monument in 1904, but it was not fully completed until 1924.
The series was issued by Saint Helena, a small British overseas territory in the Atlantic Ocean. In order to produce the coins, Saint Helena outsourced the production to The East India Company. In just its second year of issue, the series has gained worldwide popularity and is sought after by investors and collectors alike.
The 2022 5 oz St Helena Silver Queen’s Virtues – Truth coin contains 5 Troy oz of .999 fine silver in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Individual coins will ship in protective capsules. Multiples of 10 coins will ship in plastic sheets and 100 coins will ship in a monster box. This coin is also considered legal tender in Saint Helena with a 5 Pound denomination.
Queen Elizabeth II is depicted on the obverse of this coin. Saint Helena is part of the British Commonwealth, which is why the Queen is featured. This is the third generation portrait and was designed by Raphael Maklouf in 1985. Her Majesty is in right-profile relief wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown.
The Reverse highlights the personification of Truth. Truth is the second virtue design in the Queen’s Virtues series. Truth can be seen holding a mirror in her right hand as she protects and guides a child with her left hand. Inscribed around the Truth Angel is “TRUTH · CONQUERS · ALL.”
