DETAILS

The 2022 1 oz Canadian Platinum Maple Leaf is available to order directly from GoldClub Direct.

The Maple Leaf series is one of the most popular and expansive bullion coin series on the market. Maple Leaf coins are offered in various different weights and are one of only a few sovereign mint programs to produce coins in all four major precious metals: gold, silver, platinum, and palladium.

The Maple Leaf program began with the Gold Maple Leaf in 1979. In 1988 the Royal Canadian Mint released new additions to the series with platinum and silver varieties. The Platinum Maple Leaf was available in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz weights, however, the entire program was canceled in 2003 as the demand for platinum bullion coins plummeted. In 2009, the Royal Canadian Mint restarted the production of Platinum Maple Leafs but only in the 1 oz weight.

The 2022 1 oz Candian Platinum Maple Leaf contains 1 oz of .9995 pure platinum and will arrive in Brilliant Uncirculated Condition. Individual coins will ship in protective plastic flips and multiples of 10 coins will ship in protective tubes. Each coin is considered legal tender in Canada with a face value of $50 (CAD).

The obverse face of the Platinum Maple Leaf displays an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. The 2022 coin uses the fourth-generation portrait to be featured on Canadian coins, designed by Susanna Blunt in 2003. The Queen is in right profile relief wearing a pearl necklace and earrings. This effigy is the first during the Queen’s reign to lack a crown.

The reverse highlights the national emblem of Canada and the namesake of this coin, the sugar maple leaf. All versions of the Maple Leaf series since its introduction have displayed the maple leaf on the reverse. As an additional security measure, the reverse includes a micro-laser engraved privy mark of a maple leaf to authenticate the coin.
