An excellent addition to any collection, the Austrian or ‘Vienna” Silver Philharmonic is pressed brilliantly in 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver. Straight from the Austrian mint, Philharmonics arrive brilliant uncirculated and are delivered in the same condition.
Minted since 2008, the Silver Philharmonic appears almost identical to the gold counterpart, both minted in commemoration of the renowned Vienna Philharmonic symphony. As the Austrian Mint has existed for over 800 years, these coins are painstakingly examined and individually checked as to only produce coins of the highest quality. One of the most intriguing silver bullion coins, the philharmonic’s desirability has become increasingly evident by its high sales numbers.
Launching in 1989 when the Austrian Mint released the first gold bullion coins in the series. The series started with 1 oz and 1/4 oz gold, later expanding to include a 1/10 oz coin in 1991, a 1/2 oz coin in 1994, and a 1/25 oz coin in 2014. The Silver Philharmonic was introduced in 2008 with 1 oz silver as the only option. Since then, a 1 oz platinum coin debuted in 2016 and was followed by a 1/25 oz platinum coin in 2017.
All of the 2022 1 oz Austrian Silver Philharmonic Coins in this listing are available to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Coins in this series are available individually in protective flips. Multiples in this series ship with plastic tubes of 20 coins or Monster Boxes of 500 coins. The Monster Box can hold a total of 25 tubes of 20 coins.
On the obverse of 2022 Austrian Silver Philharmonic Coins is a depiction of the pipe organ found in the Musikverein. The Musikverein is also known as the Golden Concert Hall and is the venue where the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra performs when it is in the capital city of Austria.
Designed by Thomas Pesendorfer, the Austrian design has rapidly become one of the most recognizable silver coins. The face also features the year, weight, and fineness of ‘1 unze finesilber’ which translates to ‘1 ounce Fine silver’, along with the legal face value of 1,50 Euros. An interesting fact to note is that the Philharmonic is one of the only silver coins where no pagan images appear.
The reverse field of 2022 1 oz Silver Philharmonic Coins includes a design with various musical instruments. The field includes a cello at the center with two violins flanking it on either side. Behind it, you will find a bassoon, a harp, and a French horn. The design is a celebration of Austrian culture seen through the Vienna Philharmonic symphony.
It’s no wonder the silver Austrian Philharmonic coins are the most popular European silver bullion coins.
