2022 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coins are available to you at GoldClub Direct. For the first time, the American Gold Eagle from the United States Mint will only be releasing the new Jennie Norris design. Maintaining elements of Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ original 1907 $20 gold piece design, the obverse side depicts the beautiful figure of Lady Liberty flowing towards the observer. In her right hand, a burning torch to light the way forward. In her left, an olive branch of peace. The reverse side has been updated to show a detailed portrait view of the American Bald Eagle head.
While many will primarily note the updated artistic design aspects, perhaps the most important addition is the anti-counterfeit reeded edge variation. Just under the last digit of the date, a reed is missing and within the reeded gap edge, there are very small gaps.
The new Type 2 American Gold Eagle initial release ran in mid 2021. The US Mint issued the original Miley Busiek designed, Type 1 2021 Gold Eagles from January to June. The US Mint began issuing the coins with the updated Jennie Norris design in July 2021.
All of these 2022 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coins arrive in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Individual coins come in protective flips, with 10 or more offered in plastic tubes of 40 coins, or Monster Boxes of 1,000 coins. Monster boxes contain 25 tubes.
