DETAILS

100 Corona Austrian Gold Coins are now available from GoldClub Direct!

This listing is for a random 100 Corona Austrian Gold Coin from the 1915 restrikes. The selection will be based on the stock of coins we have during the fulfillment process.

The Gold Corona was used as currency during the Austro-Hungarian Empire from 1892-1916. The empire initially issued 10 and 20 Corona coins for circulation. The 100 Corona denomination was only issued for a short time from 1908-1914, but became very popular with its restrike version. The Austrian Mint began producing the 100 Corona restrikes in 1975. This was a move to compete with the South African Gold Krugerrand in the international market.

All of the restrikes have the mintage year of 1915. The condition will vary, but every coin will contain the same specifications. The 100 Corona Austrian Gold coin has .9802 oz of .900 pure gold.

The obverse side displays a portrait of Franz Josef I in right-profile relief. Franz Josef I was the Emperor of Austria and King of Hungary from 1948 to 1916. The 100 Corona denomination was introduced in 1908 for the 60th anniversary of his reign.

The reverse includes the Austro-Hungarian coat of arms. A double-headed eagle is seen crowned, holding the heraldic shield of the Hapsburg Dynasty. The double-headed eagle represents the dual monarchy of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
