Description
Each Rand Refinery 1 oz Gold Bar in this listing is packaged inside of a Rand Refinery Assay card. In the sealed pack, the Rand Refinery’s black Assay card surrounds the gold bar inside of a capsule at the center of the back. On the Assay card, “Rand Refinery” and its logo can be seen at the top, while “Rand Secure” appears at the bottom. Serial number, weight, and purity are also included on the other side of the Assay card.
Rand Refinery gold bars are examples of minted ingots, a type of gold bar that has refined edges and elegant design elements. Rand Refinery offers both minted ingots and cast gold bars, with weight options for ingots that include 2 grams, 5 grams, 10 grams, 20 grams, 50 grams, and 100 grams in addition to these 1 oz gold bars.
Rand Refinery 1 oz Gold Bar has a variety of identifying characteristics on the obverse. On top of the design field, there is the Rand Refinery name and logo, representing a melting pot where gold is poured into casts. In the periodic table of elements code for gold, the metal type is identified along with the purity, and a unique serial number is engraved at the bottom of each bar. These serial number codes all start with an “RR” followed by a six-digit numeric code.
There is a tiled design element on the reverse side of the Rand Refinery 1 oz Gold Bar that is representative of the African continent. A mother elephant and her small calf are repeatedly shown marching in a line on the reverse face of the coin. The calf holds its mother’s tail with its trunk so it can stay close to its mother. As the design moves from right to left, the next line moves left to right, and so on down the bar.
