DETAILS

The Australian Gold Kangaroo series was initially released as the Australian Gold Nugget in 1987. After 3 years, the program switched names and designs to the Kangaroo as it is a more internationally recognized symbol of Australia. With this change, the program received a much larger international interest, making it one of the most sought-after bullion coin programs in the world.

The 1 oz Australian Gold Kangaroo contains 1 oz of .9999 fine gold and will arrive in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.  The coin will ship protected inside individual plastic capsules. Multiples of 20 coins will ship in tubes, while multiples of 100 coins will ship in boxes. Each 1 oz coin is considered legal tender in Australia with a $100 (AUD) denomination.

On the obverse of the Australian Kangaroo is an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. The portrait of Queen Elizabeth II will change based on the mintage year, however, the design does not change yearly like the reverse.

The reverse design features the animal the coin series is named after, the kangaroo. Since 1990, the kangaroo design has changed annually, making each year’s release unique and collectible. Designs have included a single kangaroo prancing across a plain, a mother kangaroo with its joeys, and two kangaroos boxing. Since this listing is for random 1 oz Australian Gold Kangaroos, we are unable to guarantee a specific year of mintage/design. Our warehouse staff picks the coins based on our inventory during the fulfillment process.
