DETAILS

The 1/4 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf gives investors a chance to buy high-quality gold bullion coins at a lower price. The Maple Leaf is thought of as one of the best investment-grade bullion coins on the market.

The series was initially released in 1979 in a one-ounce weight, becoming the first coin to challenge the South African Krugerrand. Three years later in 1982, the Royal Canadian Mint expanded this series to include 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz varieties. This release was part of the first expansion in the program. The mint further expanded the program with a 1/2 oz coin in 1986, a 1/20 oz coin in 1993, and a 1-gram coin in 2014. The Royal Canadian Mint’s large facilities and advanced machines allow them to create many different-sized, high-quality products.

This listing is for a random year 1/4 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf and each coin will arrive in varied conditions. The mintage date you receive will depend on our inventory once the payment clears and your order is ready to be shipped. Every coin will contain 1/4 oz of .9999 pure gold.

The obverse of the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf features an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. There have been three royal effigies of the Queen since this series was introduced and will depend on the year of issue you receive. The first portrait depicts the Queen at age 39 and is featured on coins from 1982-1989. The second effigy displays a 64-year-old Queen from 1990 to 2002. The most recent portrait was designed by Susanna Blunt and is featured on all coins from 2003 to the present.

The reverse face of the maple leaf has remained the same since it was released in 1986. The sugar maple leaf, the national emblem of Canada, is centered, with the specifications of the coin engraved around the rim.
